Day 1 of Grandma Camp...799 more to go!

I forgot how hard it is to find time to take pictures during grandma camp, so I didn’t get many, but I did get these first thing this morning so you could see the cute t-shirts my daughter got for us. There’s something about a t-shirt that says, “Grandma Camp is a thing!” Seems more official somehow. So thanks, Brie - we love our shirts!

Now, I want to assure you that you don’t have to have a special T-shirt or plain anything super fancy to make your camp a hit. I think it’s just the idea of focused time just for them that makes it special. I have to admit, I felt less than prepared this morning when I woke up, but off we went and it was a great day. The highlight for me was when this little camper said, “Grandma, I want to have 800 days of grandma camp!”

This year my Grandma Camp Bible verse is Psalm 63:3-4, “Because your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you. So I will bless you while I live; I will lift up my hands in your name.”

I hope this simple art project (still in process) will remind them of this verse and what it means. I’m also playing off of our hands, and how fearfully and wonderfully they are made (Psalm 139:14) by our God who loves us so much that he gave us these wonderful tools to bless him and others. They really are a marvel.

Did you know there are 27 bones, 29 joints and at least 123 ligaments in each of your hands? Incredible!

I’ll try to take more pictures on Day 2. We’ll be learning a new game and playing an old game, we’ll finish up our hands art project and maybe start a new one, and we’ll find someone to bless, and of course we’ll have to work in a special treat somewhere. What’s Grandma Camp without some special treats?
